The 2.22.21 update improves the Anime membership with global discovery and two additional external players. This follow-up also brings MegaPlay and AniXo into /status, rather than leaving them out of the source inventory. Manga reading, downloads and e-reader conversion remain free; the media membership and account boundaries are unchanged.
Browse the whole catalogue
Search and filter the upstream anime catalogue, not just the cards loaded in your browser. Choose trending, popularity, score, newest, recently updated or search relevance, plus format, status and genre. Search, filters and page are encoded in the URL, so reload, Back and shared links retain the view.
The catalogue has a banner/cover spotlight, cleaner cards and rounded scores. Title pages show related anime and next-airing information. MAL and AniList IDs are not interchangeable: links and player requests use exact MAL identity. Broadcast schedules do not guarantee uploads or playable episodes.
Two additional external players
- MegaPlay and AniXo are manual options alongside the existing providers. They are embed adapters, not new native scraper catalogues or guaranteed independent streaming infrastructure.
- The iframe opens only after you choose Open player. Changing account, title, episode, provider or audio clears that start intent. Providers and audio are never switched automatically.
- AniXo keeps a minimal sandbox. MegaPlay explicitly refuses sandboxed playback; only its fixed origin gets that exception. Third-party players can use cookies, display ads or open another tab.
- Validated events from the selected frame/origin can save account-owned checkpoints. The providers do not document a remote seek/resume command: the saved position is shown, and seeking uses their own controls.
History and episode navigation
Episode groups and number/title filtering make long series easier to navigate. Next and Previous preserve the selected source and audio. Native automatic next remains off by default and account-bound.
Private history now has content filters, pagination, per-entry removal and confirmation-before-clear. Removing history does not erase library items or durable playback positions. An account change cancels a pending deletion confirmation; an old-account intent cannot delete the new account's history.
What the status page checks
/status includes both external players as Anime integrations with an HTTP embed-endpoint check, visibly separate from catalogue checks. HTTP reachability does not guarantee title mapping, decoded video, subtitles or episode coverage. Checks are cached for ten minutes and the page refreshes every thirty seconds. Metadata references stay separate from chapter/video providers; the manga directory remains manga-only.
The earlier October 6 native-source update remains a dated record, not a claim that every source still works. SuperFlix retains its blocked status and existing upstream failures stay visible.
Verification and limits
The release was tested on its exact image and public site at mobile/desktop widths in English and Portuguese. Real short video samples covered MegaPlay/AniXo, One Piece/Frieren and sub/dub requests; native players, account transitions, history and manga page navigation also had separate checks. These samples do not certify every title, complete episodes, subjective audio quality or all physical phones. Google consent and Stripe checkout were not recertified by temporary QA access.
The visual and connector research was informed by AniCult and its MIT reference code. MangaMazing is independent, not affiliated; a code license does not establish distribution rights to media.
